One more game that can be added in the list is the casino craps. Casino craps is a simple variation of another dice game, Hazard, which is an Old English pastime made famous in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.
The beginnings of craps are not exactly pointed out in history books but many claim that it has been a favorite recreation since the Crusades. Back then, casino craps can be defined as Hazard meets French influence. It was initially known as crapaud which means toad in French.
The game we know today can be attributed to a fellow by the name of Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville. Notorious for being a gambler, the rich landowner and politician brought casino craps into the saloons of New Orleans.
Essentially, participants of the game stake their money or bet against the house on the result of one roll. The bet can also be on a succession of rolls of a pair of dice.
